Back to Basics × C × Save my dinner
Today I stole some time to go to the Market during the day since I was working in town. I stopped at the fruit section and I found peaches. PEACHES! (Why is it so hard to find peaches in the UK supermarkets? Is it just me, or it is virtually impossible to find them?). I also couldn't resist and I bought figs too. I love figs, and recently I've discovered that they make the best match for cheese in a salad! How?
- Take a slice of bread and top it with some goat cheese. Put it in the grill until the top gets golden and crusty.
- Place it over some mixed leaves and sliced clean figs, toss some olive oil and balsamic vinegar and voilà!
Another combination that makes me happy is pomegranate with blue cheese. And then, if you are like me and can't remember which cheese do you have in your fridge... Well, mix them all up. Today I had blue cheese with figs and it worked perfectly too. (It's also a great starter when having vegetarian guests over. A starter. Do not starve your vegetarian friends!)

I am thrilled... my friend Agnès came to visit this weekend!
She moved to Liverpool a year ago and I miss her very much. We used to work and live together in Oxford, which at the beginning scared me a bit. How do you live and work with the same person? It seemed like sharing a bit too much. But surprisingly, it worked so well! We shared both worlds (work colleagues and rest of housemates), but we had different projects and we could talk about everything. And we are both very independent, and still kept different groups of friends on the side, so we balanced quite well. She has the brightest smile and super light blue eyes.
We had a barbecue on the evening, and next day we enjoyed a picnic in the park. She was wearing the most amazing blue dress, and we played with the camera a bit. I miss this girl, I miss having a coffee with her or going for a walk, ranting about work and finding solutions for all the problems in this world.
By the way the dress is from Jack Wills (they have a fantastic student discount) and the bag I fell in love with and had to buy is from Topshop.

I spend hours looking for new music. But what is actually better than having great tunes is to have someone who makes the selection for you. I love to host parties and have friends over and my secret weapon for this occassions are podcasts.
Aeroplane is a belgium producer that you may know for this or this. Now he will be doing a small number of all night long sets in London. To get a taste of how it will sound he is preparing a series of mixes. Here we present you the funky and boogie edition.

Ok, maybe it is because the weather today is a clear warning that autumn is just around the corner. But I find myself looking at warmer outfits of my favourite spanish brands. Burgundy and blue navy are my obssession today. Every time the season is about to change I picture myself with amazing outfits walking in the park, commuting to work or with a cuppa indoors. What will actually end up happening is that I will be late for work and it will be pouring to walk to the park. But I will still have my cuppa, and hopefully one of these!

The first time I took serious pictures of flowers was in Senegal. When I saw the baobab flowers I was absolutely amazed. They are hand sized (so big!) and hang down from the tree like little lamps. It looked like someone had decorated the tree for a party that is about to start. The fruits also can be turned into the most delicious juice, with a grape-vanilla flavour, and very sweet.
Recently I find myself buying flowers for no especial reason and I realise now I miss them if I don't have any around. They make any room look pretty, and even little flowers in a glass look nice if you don't have a fancy vase. It is also what I have been buying as a present lately: even if you don't know the person very well, it is thoughtful and pretty. Receiving flowers feels somewhat very flattering and spoiled.
These tiny beauties are now on my bedside table. (and in my bathroom too!)
